Hallmark Announces "New Year, New Movies" for January 2024--Get Your Printable Checklist!

After an enchanting season of Countdown to Christmas and Miracles of Christmas movies, Hallmark hits the ground running in January 2024 with FOUR new romcoms and a new mystery, plus The Way Home returns for a second season.

Hallmark New Year New Movies 2024

HALLMARK CHANNEL PREMIERES

1.  Love on the Right Course

Premieres:  Saturday, January 6 at 8pm Eastern

Starring:  Ashley Newbrough and Marcus Rosner

Love on the Right Course reunites Newbrough and Rosner who starred together in Flipping for Christmas in 2023.

This time, Newbrough plays a professional golfer who is struggling to qualify for her next tournament.  To ponder her career and regroup, she returns to her family's golf course in Budapest.  Her father, who is still grieving the loss of his wife, has handed over the reins to the club's operations to a new golf pro (Rosner).  Whitney and Daniel have vastly different approaches to the sport, but as they spend time together, romance begins to bloom--until Whitney's former trainer returns and pushes Daniel out.  


2.  A Scottish Love Scheme

Premieres:  Saturday, January 13 at 8pm Eastern

Starring:  Erica Durance and Jordan Young

Erica Durance last appeared in the Miracles of Christmas production, Ms. Christmas Comes to Town and is back to kick off 2024, alongside Jordan Young, a Scottish actor making his Hallmark debut.

Here's the synopsis from Hallmark's website:  "Lily travels to Scotland with her mother and reconnects with Logan, a childhood family friend.  Unbeknownst to Lily and Logan, their meddling mothers have come up with a plan to set them up."

Viewers loved the sights of Scotland in 2023's A Merry Scottish Christmas with Lacey Chabert and will get to enjoy new views in A Scottish Love Scheme--the movie was filmed partially in Yellowcraig Beach, North Berwick and Hailes Castle, Haddington.


3.  Betty's Bad Luck in Love

Premieres:  Saturday, January 20 at 8pm Eastern

Starring:  Laci J. Mailey and Marco Grazzini

Fans of Chesapeake Shores may recognize Mailey for her role as Jess in the series, but Betty's Bad Luck in Love is the star's first lead role in a Hallmark romcom.

Grazzini has appeared in several Hallmark films, often in a supporting role, but has enjoyed the spotlight in Right in Front of Me and Heart's in the Game. Grazzini made headlines in September 2023 when he announced the birth of his daughter with fiancée and fellow Hallmark star, Alvina August.

Here's what the new movie is about:

"Cursed from childhood to fail at romance, Betty's relationships have always ended in disaster.  But when she meets Alex, she's tempted to try once more.  Can true love prevail over a curse?"

4.  Swinging into Love (Working Title)

Premieres:  Saturday, January 27 at 8pm Eastern

Starring:  Jocelyn Hudon and Oliver Renaud

Luna is a former dancer now managing her family's construction business.  When her company starts transforming a gymnasium into an aerial studio, she enjoys dancing in the silks when she thinks no one is watching.  She's discovered by professional aerialist, Bennet, who ends up recruiting Luna to perform with him when his partner for an upcoming show drops out.  As they work together, Luna rediscovers her love of dancing as well as a new romance.

Hudon, originally a ballerina, is best known for her leading role in When Hope Calls.  Renaud has appeared in several romcoms on other networks, but Swinging into Love is his first one for Hallmark.

Since Swinging into Love is a working title, it's possible this could change before the air date.


HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES

True Justice:  Family Ties

Premieres:  Friday, January 12 at 9pm Eastern

Starring:  Katherine McNamara, Markian Tarasiuk, Nickki DeLoach, and Benjamin Ayres

Mystery lovers will enjoy this story about a law school student and her friends setting out to prove her brother's innocence, but the only way to clear his name is by finding the real killer.

The Way Home-Season 2

Premieres:  Sunday, January 21 at 8pm Eastern

Starring:  Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, Evan Williams, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow

This series is a family drama following the lives of three generations of women--Kat Landry, her 15-year-old daughter Alice, and Kat's mother Dell, who are all strong, willful, and independent.

UPDATED: Hallmark Announces FIVE New Movies for May 2023!

Between Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, fans have been treated to 12 new movies spanning March and April 2023.   As TV infomercials always tease, " But wait!  There's more !"   Hallmark is cranking out an additional FIVE  new movies during May 2023. 1.  When Love Springs Premieres May 6 at 8pm Eastern This movie uses the "fake boyfriend" trope.  Starring Rhiannon Fish and James William O'Halloran, the movie is about Rory (Fish) who goes to a quaint B&B on the lake where her parents are renewing their vows.  She bumps into the ex-boyfriend who broke who heart who is there with his new girlfriend.  To save face, Rory grabs onto the B&B owner, Noah (O'Halloran), and pretends he is her boyfriend.  Why would Noah go along with this charade?  The B&B is failing, but a travel blogger is coming to review the place.  With a background in PR, Rory offers to help Noah prepare in exchange for him pr...

Hallmark Announces SEVEN New Movies for July/August's "Summer Nights!" Get the Printable Checklist!

Hallmark revealed to ET  that they will premiere seven new movies for their annual Summer Nights celebration, starting July 29 and running through August 2023.
