August Is Drawing to a Close
Can you believe August is almost over?
It's no biggie for Hallmark fans because we know it means harvest movies are just around the corner as we jingle bell shuffle to our favorite season of all--Christmas!
Don't put that pool floatie away just yet or trade your margarita for a pumpkin spice latte because more love in the sun is in store for you this week on Hallmark Channel.
What's New This Week on Hallmark Channel?
Napa Ever After premieres Saturday, August 26 at 8pm Eastern. The movie stars Denise Boutté and Colin Lawrence.

Here's what Napa Ever After is about, according to Hallmark's website:
After inheriting her estranged grandmother’s winery in Napa Valley, Cassandra, a high- powered attorney, takes a sabbatical from her job to renovate the property that was the source of the fractures within her family. With the help of handsome local Alec, she learns more about the grandmother she hardly knew and is able to reconcile the past, while finally opening herself up to a love like she’s never known.
You can watch the movie trailer below.
Hallmark is releasing Napa Ever After as part of their Mahogany brand, which is a racist initiative no one seems to acknowledge. Why can't this movie just be part of Hallmark's regular, diverse brand? Imagine if Hallmark had an Ivory division to showcase whites in movies--the uproar would be deafening. Yet, we're supposed to swallow, without question, a brand that separates blacks from everyone else. I'm confused. Are we supposed to denounce or celebrate segregation?
Hallmark Channel's Christmas Movie of the Week
The August 25 Christmas movie playing (exactly four months until Christmas day!) is a fan favorite from 2022: My Southern Family Christmas. The movie stars Jaicy Elliot and Ryan Rottman.
Here's the synopsis:
When invited to cover a Pere Noel Christmas celebration in Louisiana, Campbell, a journalist meets her estranged father and his new family for the first time.
Personally, I find this movie to be underwhelming, but I'm in the minority. The concept is good and the glimpse into Louisiana traditions is interesting; however, the leads have no chemistry, Elliot is so chunky that she looks clumsy and ready to burst, and her father and stepmom look too old to have young children. Was casting designed to promote body positivity and to combat ageism?
If you love the movie, you can find in in this Hallmark 9-DVD collection:
My Hallmark Movie Picks of the Week
If you're a Tyler Hynes fan like me, four of his movies are playing this week: Falling for You (8/21), A Picture of Her (8/21), Always Amore (8/25), and It Was Always You (8/27).
Eloise Mumford is not one of my favorite Hallmark actresses, but she's in two excellent movies that air back-to-back on Tuesday, August 22: The Presence of Love (co-starring Julian Morris) and Sweeter Than Chocolate (with Dan Jeannotte).
My final favorite pick for the week lands on Saturday, August 26, and it's Raise a Glass to Love with Laura Osnes and Juan Pablo di Pace.
Osnes and di Pace make onscreen magic, and it's very interesting to learn the rigorous requirements one must master to become a wine sommelier.
If you're going to be watching all these movies, you're going to need some popcorn. Check out this personal sized popcorn popper by Presto. It pops up to eight cups in about two minutes with virtually no unpopped kernels, and it doubles as a serving bowl!
