Between Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, fans have been treated to 12 new movies spanning March and April 2023.
As TV infomercials always tease, "But wait! There's more!"
Hallmark is cranking out an additional FIVE new movies during May 2023.
1. When Love Springs Premieres May 6 at 8pm Eastern
This movie uses the "fake boyfriend" trope. Starring Rhiannon Fish and James William O'Halloran, the movie is about Rory (Fish) who goes to a quaint B&B on the lake where her parents are renewing their vows. She bumps into the ex-boyfriend who broke who heart who is there with his new girlfriend. To save face, Rory grabs onto the B&B owner, Noah (O'Halloran), and pretends he is her boyfriend. Why would Noah go along with this charade? The B&B is failing, but a travel blogger is coming to review the place. With a background in PR, Rory offers to help Noah prepare in exchange for him pretending to be her boyfriend.
You can watch a trailer for the movie here.
2. Dream Moms Premieres May 13 at 8pm Eastern
Dream Moms stars Tamera Mowry-Housley, Chelsea Hobbs, Roger Cross, and Andrew J. Hampton. Image: Hallmark Media
Danielle (Mowry-Housley) was once an off-Broadway performer and backup singer, and Claire (Hobbs) was an aspiring dancer. Both had dreams of making it to Broadway, but motherhood changed their priorities.
Danielle's brother, who owns a dance studio, introduces the two women and encourages them to compete in a nationally televised talent contest. As they practice, both women rediscover their passion and purpose.
When a competing conflict arises, the two women decide to follow through in order to set an example for their families: follow your dreams because it's never too late to become who you want to be.
Dream Moms sounds like a story many of us moms can relate to, which is why Hallmark scheduled it to premiere over Mother's Day weekend. We will also get to hear Mowry-Housley show off her vocal talents with three original songs written specifically for the movie.
Dream Moms also kicks off Hallmark's "Make Her Mark" Women's Directing Program, which is a creation of Ashley Williams that allows an aspiring female director to shadow an established director for the duration of the entire process before directing her own Hallmark movie. I'm not a fan of this pro-feminist and sexist concept because it implies that women are marginalized by men, which they are not. As usual, Hallmark has to pair a woke talking point rooted in identity politics with this project instead of solely focusing on entertainment value.
3. A Jane DaSilva Mystery: Inheritance Lost (Previously Titled Case of the Broken Song) Premieres May 14 at 7pm Eastern
Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar star in A Jane DaSilva Mystery: Inheritance Lost Image: Hallmark Media
Jane DaSilva (Sweetin) is a singer who inherits the family foundation--a non-profit detective agency that helps people who don't have the resources to help themselves. Both Detective John Cameron (Huszar) and Jane's aunt mentor her as she takes on her first case surrounding a mother's untimely death years previously. Jane runs into danger as she investigates a multi-level marketing company that took advantage of her client's fragile mom.
4. Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance Premieres May 20 at 8pm Eastern

Busby plays Lauren, a curator trying to prove that a set of ancient vases belongs with the Pueblo Nation. She heads to Zion to substantiate her claim and along the way meets Adam, a native Puebloan park ranger who joins her on her mission.
This is Gridley's first Hallmark movie, so it will be interesting to see if he will be a "keeper."
5. Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (working title) Premieres May 21 at 7pm Eastern

When a skeleton is discovered amid the rubble of a building during a renovation, residents are shocked that one of Lake Eden's beloved citizens is not who he claimed to be. As Hannah launches her own investigation into the matter, much to her fiancé's dismay (Mathison), she tries to piece together the events that led to the murder and learn the victim's true identity. Hannah even calls on her mother as she works to bring the killer to justice and uncover the truth.
This movie is based on the novel by Joanne Fluke called Carrot Cake Murder. You can find the book here:
