What Is The Wedding Veil Movie Series About?
Each Wedding Veil movie follows three college friends, all Art History majors, who meet in a different city each year for an antiquing adventure. In the first installment, Avery, Emma, and Tracy stumble upon a beautiful vintage wedding veil that has a mysterious legend attached to it. Anyone in possession of the veil will find true love!
It's true. As each lady takes a turn with the veil, she meets her husband.

Once all three ladies are married, they share the veil with their single family and friends, and the veil continues to work its magic.
What comes next for our happy couples? The sequel trilogy traces the natural progression of relationships: settling into life with their partners, juggling careers, and becoming parents.
Comparing The Wedding Veil Trilogy & the Sequel: Which Set Is Better?
The Wedding Veil trilogy is one of Hallmark's most original and charming movie series to air in the last few years.
Who executive produced each of these movie installments? Lacey Chabert, the Hallmark queen with the Midas touch.
According to Heavy.com, viewership was higher for the first trilogy than the second installment, but the sequels still did quite well in the ratings in terms of the most same-day watched non-sports programs.
All six Wedding Veil movies tell great stories, but overall, the sequel trilogy boasts greater substance and emotional depth. The first three are more light-hearted because they center on the joys of discovering romance. The continuation of the saga shifts the focus to real-life struggles that all couples encounter.
Let's stack each original Wedding Veil movie against its sequel.
Which Is Better? The Wedding Veil Versus The Wedding Veil Expectations
These two movies spotlight Avery, played by Lacey Chabert. The Wedding Veil is fascinating due to the element of mystery. Not only does Avery discover the long-lost Portrait of a Bride painting, she's stunned that the veil featured in the painting is the exact same one she and her friends own. The veil brings her and new board member, Peter (Kevin McGarry), together to investigate its origins and plan a museum gala to unveil it, and the two end up falling in love.
Several fans on social media expressed that the Wedding Veil Expectations is equal to the first one, but only 19% of respondents found the second installment to be better.

Why aren't fans as enamored with The Wedding Veil Expectations? Here are a few answers from viewers discussing it on social media:
Sherry T: It was good, but slow start then it rushed to finish.
Kim V: I am so sad. Lacey is my favorite. Loved the first three. Did not care for this one.
Raquel J: Very boring and predictable.
Other fans said they watch rom-coms to relax, so the stressful situations throughout The Wedding Veil Expectations made them feel anxious.
**WINNER: The Wedding Veil**
Which Is Better? The Wedding Veil Unveiled Versus The Wedding Veil Inspiration
These two installments follow Emma's (Autumn Reeser) encounter with the wedding veil.
In The Wedding Veil Unveiled, Emma travels to Italy to teach art history. In her spare time, she does some digging into the origins of the veil. Her research unearths a compelling story about the painter, the subject of his portrait, and how the veil made its way to America.
Most of the movie is filmed in Italy, which makes it all the more romantic. The script is well-written, yet the story progresses slowly.
The Wedding Veil Inspiration feels a little more relatable. Emma covets a promotion, which she has earned, but she discovers her passion is with teaching art, not the administrative side of things.
As Paolo's (Paolo Bernardini) father and uncle face health issues, it becomes apparent he will need to take the reins of the family business. This sticky situation divides him and Emma. She wants to stay in Chicago, but she's unwilling to maintain a long-distance relationship.
A subplot involves the romantic attraction between Matteo, Paolo's cousin who helps run the Chicago store, and Lily, who is Emma's helpful graduate assistant. Lily's odd character is both endearing and off-putting. Lily is the perfect quirky sidekick for Emma, but she's not the right person to be cast as Matteo's love interest.
Emma decides to uproot her life and move to Italy, and we learn she's pregnant near the end.
Both movies are enchanting, but the sequel takes the lead.
**WINNER: The Wedding Veil Inspiration**
Which Is Better? The Wedding Veil Legacy Versus The Wedding Veil Journey
After the first Wedding Veil trilogy aired, another fan opinion poll on Facebook pointed to Legacy as being everyone's favorite of the three.
- The movie opens with Tracy and Nick leaving each other post-it notes rather than talking. It's a beautiful and effective way to show instead of tell how they are losing connection with each other.
- The movie is filmed on location in Greece, which is breathtaking.
- Tracy is jarred when she finds herself developing maternal feelings for Matteo. Coming to terms with it all and plotting a path forward elicits a very emotional response from viewers.
- Journey leaves us with a tantalizing cliffhanger: while shopping, the three ladies are presented with a necklace from the 1800's that has a legend attached to it. The lore surrounding the necklace isn't revealed, but it certainly leaves an open door for sequels!
**WINNER: The Wedding Veil Journey**
Will Hallmark Make More Wedding Veil Sequels?
When asked if The Wedding Veil franchise would continue, Alison Sweeney told ET, Are you kidding? We would have dinner together and pitch each other ideas for what the next movies could be. So yes, there's definitely room for more Wedding Veil magic and I'm here for it...If they want to do it, sign me up.
What makes The Wedding Veil stories unique compared to typical rom-coms is the greater emphasis on the female friend circle than just romance.
Fans have taken to social media to offer suggestions on how the saga could continue. Here are a few of their ideas:
- Shift the story focus from Avery, Emma, and Tracy to their spouses: Peter, Paolo, and Nick.
- Explore the legend of the necklace for the next three.
- Produce a trilogy that shows each family at Christmas.
- Create a trilogy where the children are the center point.
Hallmark fans are completely charmed by The Wedding Veil trilogy and anxious to see what will happen next in the lives of the Hastings', Di Stefano's, and Serchio's.
