The Movie Is Inspired by This Book
Did you know The Wedding Veil saga is inspired by a novel called There Goes the Bride by Lori Wilde? The book has since been renamed Long, Tall Texan, but it's the same story. You can purchase the book here:
If You're a Mom, How Did You Tell Your Husband You Were Pregnant?
This is such a fun story that is so relatable because it's all about setting up house with your new spouse and preparing for a baby--something many of us have done.
Avery has already been disappointed by a false positive pregnancy test, so when the doctor confirms she's really pregnant this time, she wants to deliver the news to Peter in a romantic and memorable way. She plans the big reveal at the place of their first date, but her hopes are dashed when Peter insists they join his mom and her new boyfriend for dinner elsewhere.
When their house floods, Peter suggests spending the night at a hotel. Avery picks The Astoria. She chills wine, sprinkles rose petals on the bed, and dresses up in a beautiful dress, but Peter arrives in pain from bailing water, collapses on the bed, and falls asleep.
The hormonal changes Avery experiences put her on an emotional rollercoaster, and it gets harder to hide her pregnancy symptoms. She ends up blurting the news to Peter in their backyard, which is not according to plan but just as wonderful.

Avery's food cravings and reaction to smells resonated the most with me. What did you crave when you were pregnant? I could never get enough Chinese hot and sour soup, hot pepper rings, and pickles. Food smells that I normally loved also gagged me. Avery can't stand smelling Mason's coffee every day at work.
The good news about the baby puts everything into perspective for these two soon-to-be parents, and the things that stress them seem a lot less important.
Where Was The Wedding Veil Expectations Filmed?
The movie was filmed in Victoria, Canada, and director, Peter Bensen, visited a LOT of houses before he landed on the right "home" for Avery and Peter that would suit the schedules of all parties involved.

The house ordeal reminds me of the 1986 Tom Hanks movie, The Money Pit. It, too, is a story about a couple who buy a house and attempt to renovate it, only to have one disaster after another befall them.
Sellers legally have to disclose problems with a home so potential buyers are aware of what they are getting into. In many cases, buyers request a home inspection, which usually catches issues like bad pipes, outdated building codes, and a cracked foundation.
Why do Peter and Avery act surprised when their house suddenly requires an overhaul? It's more than a hundred years old, so unless they bought it with the designation "as is" and in a rush, they should have known what to expect.
The Portrait Is Saved!
Mason Sylvester is the new executive director at the Stanbridge Art Museum, and he and Avery have completely different tastes and ideas on the direction the museum should take. He tolerates Avery's lace exhibit, but he plans to trade five of the museum's paintings for five modern pieces from a museum in England, including the Ameche painting of the bride.Avery tries to be respectful of her new boss, but she can't bear to see the painting go. She contacts Fred Carrothers, who visits and televises specials based on historic places in Boston, and he conducts a special interview with Avery about the Ameche painting.
The publicity wins Avery's case, and the painting stays! In fact, it becomes a huge draw to the museum for couples wishing to propose under it, just as Peter did.
How Do You Think The Wedding Veil Expectations Compares to the First Installment?
It's not often that Hallmark continues the saga of a couple once they fall in love and get married, so one of my favorite aspects of this movie is seeing how Avery's and Peter's relationship progresses after they say, "I do."
It's sweet the couple names their baby Daniel, after Peter's father.
The opening scene of the movie is a beautiful montage of the original three movies showing how the stories intersect, and it ends well, too. Peter and Avery are interviewed, and it's a silly, sweet, and nostalgic look at their romantic journey.
It's fun to see the wedding veil working it's magic once again for Grace and Clark (Peter's mom and her old flame), though it's disappointing the two go on vacation together at Martha's Vineyard when they aren't married. We aren't privy to their time there, so it's possible they had their own rooms. In the past, however, Hallmark never featured unmarried couples under the same roof or vacationing together UNLESS it was clear they had their own rooms and other adults were present. Hints of impropriety were always avoided, but Hallmark is going full-throttle secular, so anything goes these days.
The Wedding Veil Expections includes a little humor, and it's altogether a feel-good and satisfying continuation of the intriguing saga of three best friends and their experiences with a magical veil.
