Kate Wolfe Has Two Rules
Kate Wolfe (Cindy Busby) takes her job as a personal trainer very seriously. To her, getting in shape isn't about losing weight--it's about making healthy lifestyle choices that become habits for the long-term.
It's Kate's commitment to her professional values that gets her fired from Santa Monica Fitness. Under new management, the company's philosophy has shifted to a new motto: No sweat, no effort, no problem. Nigel, the owner, feels surgery is the best option for celebrities who want to look good, not hard work and self-discipline.
Kate is aghast when she discovers her latest client at Silver Spring Wellness Retreat, Rick Steele (Christopher Russell), is the same chocolate-shake-loving actor who ultimately cost her the job in L.A. Rick's Hollywood studio is paying her best friend, Sasha, big bucks to get him in shape for his next spy movie where he is cast in his iconic role of Agent Darian Hall.
Despite his dashing good looks and engaging demeanor, Kate is determined to keep their relationship professional. She has two rules: never share personal information with clients and never date them. It doesn't take long for Rick to weaken her defenses.
How Much Do Celebrity Trainers Earn?
Celebrity A-list trainers charge anywhere from $300-$500 per hour for their services. The number one celebrity trainer in America is Gunnar Peterson, and his net worth is estimated to be $1.5 million.
How do celebrities drop weight so quickly when some of us work out FOREVER with little results?
It's not uncommon for stars trying to get in shape before filming to work out 6-8 hours each day. Their trainers insist on major dietary restrictions, like eliminating sugar, alcohol, and caffeine while eating the right amount of protein and vegetables at targeted times throughout the day. Workouts are tweaked to accomplish the "look" required of the movie role. Does the actor need to have bulging muscles, or is a sleek and toned physique more suitable for the part?
Kate applies these same principles to Rick. She confiscates his snacks, forbids him to have pizza, and requires him to exercise all day long. Most of us can't devote that much time to fitness, but when you're a star, getting out of shape usually means losing work.
Great Movie, Minus These Ridiculous Parts
Warming Up to You is a fun and entertaining movie. Hallmark is genius in crafting movie titles that reflect a story's theme as well as the romance. "Warming up" is a phrase associated with exercise, but it also describes how Kate evolves from being coldly distant to Rick and then melting under his irresistible charm.
The hardest thing to see in this movie is the big belly Rick has at the beginning before he loses weight. Whoever is in charge of costuming does a terrible job creating Rick's "gut." It looks so unnatural. Sometimes, you can even glimpse the edges of what looks like a square, misshapen pillow under his shirt.
Sasha is the owner of a wellness retreat, yet she is WAY out of shape. Not a good look for a fitness business.
Are we really supposed to believe Rick once thought Eliza Calhoone, his co-star, was "the one?" She is awful and obviously only included because Hallmark insists on forcing a biracial relationship in nearly every movie these days. While having a co-star who is also an ex-girlfriend create some movie tension and conflict, Hallmark should have cast a woman who actually has chemistry with Russell rather than selecting someone based on race alone.
Third Movie for Cindy Busby & Christopher Russell
Cindy Busby has a faithful fan following, but many viewers also complain that they've seen enough of her because her nasally voice grows wearisome over the course of so many Hallmark movies.
Even if you're not a Busby fan, Warming Up to You is one of her best Hallmark movies to date, and it's the third one in which she co-stars with Russell. Which one of their movies is your favorite? Vote below!
