Fun Historical Mystery
The second installment of The Wedding Veil trilogy is shrouded in mystery, and viewers are intrigued as the clues are pieced together to reveal a story worthy of a Shakespearean play.
While in Italy teaching American art history, Emma uses her free time to research the origins of the enchanted veil. As she embarks for the island of Burano, boasting more than a dozen shops specializing in handcrafted lace, she meets Paolo. Emma's exploration leads her to one of the oldest lace shops on the island, and when an older woman tending the store sees the veil, she reacts excitedly in Italian. Emma can't understand what's being said, but Paolo appears to interpret--the shop belongs to his family.
The veil was Arianna's, the subject of Amechi's painting, but family lore claims the veil had been burned by a candle and replaced before her wedding to Count DeMarco. Why is the Contessa's veil undamaged, and how did it get from Italy to San Francisco?
Both Emma and Paolo are more than a little curious, so they join forces to trace their leads. The journey reveals the truth about Arianna and her veil, and the two fall in love along the way, convincing a skeptical Emma of the veil's uncanny power.
**SPOILER ALERT!!**
If you haven't watched the movie yet, skip to the next post heading.
The plot details are a lot to digest, so if you missed a step, here's what happened:
Arianna and Amechi had been in love, but she dutifully married the Count anyway. Amechi died not long after from a broken heart but not before a child, Claudia, was born from their union. Claudia was raised as Carmella's daughter, Arianna's chambermaid. Carmella had worn the veil at her own wedding, passed it along to Claudia for her wedding who then forwarded it to her daughter, Angela. Since Angela moved to the USA, it explained how the veil found its way to San Francisco.
Where Was The Wedding Veil Unveiled Filmed?
Although some scenes were filmed in Bulgaria, most of the movie was shot in Italy-- mainly Venice, St. Mark's Square, and the island of Burano.
Paolo Bernardini tried to help Autumn Reeser with her Italian, but her mistakes were included in the movie, which only helped to make it feel more genuine.
Each of The Wedding Veil installments were filmed in just 15 days each!
Reeser shared on Instagram that her son's Flat Stanley went with her for the "adventure of a lifetime" and that being on the set made her feel like a 1940's movie star.
Wonderful On-Screen Chemistry
During the Christmas 2021 Hallmark movie season, many fans commented that far too many co-stars lacked chemistry. Hallmark redeemed itself throughout the course of The Wedding Veil trilogy! Let's hope the trend of casting the right people together continues.
Emma is still hurting from her last break-up. When her ex moved out-of-state, the two had tried to make a long-distance relationship work, but he left her for someone else. She wants to avoid sightseeing at any of the romantic hot spots, like Juliet's balcony, yet it seems impossible to escape them. It's ironic that despite her resolve never to pursue a relationship with someone long distance again, a big ocean separates her from Paolo, the man of her dreams. This time around, her story ends happily.
The chemistry between Reeser and Bernardini is charged. Could it be that he is dead sexy with a hot Italian accent? Bernardini is multi-lingual; he can speak Italian, French, and has a working knowledge of English. He is an Italian actor born in Belgium who is also a musician and singer currently working on his first album, which is being produced in Italy.
Reeser is always poised and classy, and amid all the fast Italian chatter, it's nice to hear her lines well-enunciated and slowly delivered.
All-in-all, The Wedding Veil Unveiled is a beautiful storia d'amore!
Do we know who Angela is? Was she the mother to the lady who sold them the veil? Did they ever pass on the information on to anybody involved?
