Notice the Double Entendre?
If you're a word nerd like me, you have to love the title of this movie--it's just so.....perfect! Not only does Christina/Joy help select the perfect desserts to pair with Michael's new ice wine at the party, the two of them end up being an ideal match.
The Irony of It All
Christina can be a drain to be around because she always focuses on the negative instead of the positive. You know the type. Her former writing partner, Eleanor Parks, dissolved their arrangement because she didn't like Christina's attitude, and even her boyfriend and mom admonish her to give people more of a break.
Christina thinks she's helping others by offering them suggestions for improvement, but what she's actually doing is destroying them.
After spending time with Michael's family, Christina comes to understand the value of second chances. Everyone deserves a little grace.
The irony is that it took a case of amnesia to help Christina remember who she used to be and strive to be the person again who sees the best in people. (Too bad she came to this realization before suggesting her mom get a nose job).
True Story About How Ice Wine Was Discovered
Who knew Hallmark movies could be educational as well as entertaining?
Michael is intent on developing ice wine--a dream his late wife shared with him. He wants to honor her memory by following through with their plans. He shares the story with Christina how ice wine came to be, and what he describes is true, not fiction.

Ice wine was discovered by accident. In the 1790's, Germany experienced an early cold spell that froze their grapes on the vines. They had to choose whether to lose the harvest or try pressing the frozen grapes. To their amazement, the wine was delicious and so sweet that it was designated a dessert wine.
Where can you find ice wine? It's unlikely you would find ice wine at your local grocery or liquor store, though you may stumble across it at a specialty wine shop. It can be found online, and ice wines from Germany and Canada are considered the best countries of origin--both use Riesling grapes to make it.
Making ice wine is a very involved process, so you know what that means--it costs a fortune! A bottle can range from $45-$150.
Hallmark Created A Wine Inspired by the Movie
Hallmark now offers their own line of wines along with a subscription service through their website. They introduced a limited edition wine called The Perfect Pairing, just like the movie. It's a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc and a sweet dessert wine.

Are Nazneen Contractor & Brennan Elliott the Perfect Pairing?
Brennan dazzles, as always. He's suave, charming, dashing, funny, and romantic. He knows how to sweep a lady off her feet, and he ends the movie with a wow of a kiss.
Still, any time you see Brennan with another woman, it feels like he's cheating on Lacey Chabert.
The Perfect Pairing is Nazneen's third Hallmark movie, and she continues to remain unimpressive. She lacks warmth and charm and has an annoying voice. Plus, she shows too much gumline with every smile, much like Erin Cahill.

Regardless, the story itself is sweet and just a little different than normal, aside from the obvious fact that amnesia is a major crutch for Hallmark plots.
Brennan carries the movie and drags Nazneen along for the ride. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie. I'm giving it 2 out of 4 wine glasses. 🍷🍷
